Celebrating Chinese New Year with Yauatcha

Every October, people across the world show their support for those affected by breast cancer. This year, Yauatcha will be joining in fundraising for Breast Cancer Research by introducing a limited-edition cocktail and dessert to the menu. Our exclusive cocktail, the Xi Wàng, supported by Komos Tequila, combines Komos Reposado Rosa tequila, plum, pineapple, raspberry and bergamot, and is available for £16. Featuring alongside our new cocktail is the new Fig and Hazelnut petit gâteau, which is adorned with the iconic Breast Cancer Awareness ribbon and is available for £6. For each of these products purchased, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Breast Cancer Research.

Chinese New Year is the most celebrated public holiday in China, and its popularity can be seen across the globe during the fifteen days of festivities. As an important time for family reunions, food, drink and gifting are a crucial part of the New Year celebration and Yauatcha Soho and Yauatcha City are joining the fun.

The Year of the Dragon at Yauatcha

This Chinese New Year our expert team of chefs team have created a Year of the Dragon, menu with celebratory flavours and ingredients inspired by the zodiac animal, alongside pineapple pastries which are the perfect gift for loved ones. We will also be paying homage to the dragon with bespoke decorations and traditional lion dances.

Each dish on this year’s special menu is designed to bring good fortune, strength and prosperity to the new lunar year. Join us to cheers to the Year of the Dragon with our Dragon Tail cocktail, showcasing Tanqueray 10, with a blend of dragon fruit and raspberry cordial, lime juice, yuzu sake and kumquat syrup. Its red hue is a symbol of the luck, prosperity and wealth that the dragon brings in Chinese culture.

The menu starts with a Dragon phoenix dim sum platter, featuring Eight treasure shui mai, Abalone chicken shui mai and Lobster cheese rolls. For mains, you can enjoy Steamed Chilean sea bass and Alaskan King crab in kam heong sauce, symbolising abundant food, prosperity and luck. Or our Stir-fried Surrey Angus rib eye beef with a soy kumquat sauce which is thought to bring gold and luck to the new year. These are served alongside sides of Stir-fried sugar snap with water chestnut and black fungus, and vegan fried rice with preserved olive.

Our patisserie chef has created a standout Lucky dragon petit gâteau, featuring fragrant kumquat compote, a white sesame sponge and ginger cream, and decorated with a delicate chocolate dragon

visage. We also have Prosperous dragon macarons, featuring notes of jasmine, mandarin and almond. These treats are red in colour to symbolise luck, and are adorned with a gold dragon stencil, thought to bring wealth, prosperity and good fortune for the coming year. Both can be enjoyed in the restaurants and are available to take away from our patisserie counters.

Our Year of the Dragon menu is £98 per person and available for parties of two or more guests. Join us to celebrate from Tuesday 30th January until Saturday 24th February.
